Our Curriculum

SIAMS

As a school community, here at St Mary’s Church of England Junior School, our school culture is centred around Christian values.  We are continuously adapting and improving how we do this through our shared vision:

“They will soar on wings like eagles”

At St Marys, we nurture respectful and responsible global citizens who contribute to their communities with compassion and courage.

Young minds grow with God’s love and an ambitious curriculum for all, to enable everyone to flourish as they ‘soar on wings like eagles’ and ‘live life in all its fullness’

 Impact

The school community and stakeholders value the school and it’s drive for improvement through the school’s vision and embedded values.  Our commitment to this has raised attainment and attendance, as well as providing an engaging curriculum and a safe and happy environment for learning.  This has enabled our school community to thrive and, ultimately, to give back to our wonderful local, national and global community.

 Local church/parish involvement

The school works closely with the local St Mary’s Church and its clergy lead, Reverend John. The school community take regular visits each half-term to the church as well as Reverend John attending the school to lead Collective Worship assemblies.  Our dear Reverend John continues to reach out to our school community through virtual Collective Worship assemblies.

What is SIAMS?

All Church of England dioceses schools are inspected using the Church of England Education Office's framework for the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS)

SIAMS inspections focus on the impact of the Church school's Christian vision on pupils and adults. This involves looking at the school’s Christian vision, the provision the school makes because of this vision and how effective this provision is in enabling all pupils to flourish.
